Amen’s “Head On”

amenlive Amen performs live at New Brookland Tavern years ago releases “Head On.”
‘Entourage’ is one of my favorite shows. It’s escapism at its finest. So, when I found out that local vet Amen was releasing a string of free download-full-lengths based on the show, I was excited right away about checking them out.

For those that don’t know, Amen has been a driving force in the indy-SC music scene when it was bubbling pretty hard a few years ago. He was one of the first emcees from here to branch out and work with our neighboring NC-vets like DJ Forge, other members from Justus League as well as having Khrysis lending a helping hand on production on “Zack Morris.”

The first leak from the project is “Arsonist,” a DJ Forge produced song that has dark-harmonies and lyrics that match it perfectly. If you wonder where Amen’s been during his hiatus, it’s clear that whatever it was there’s issues that gave him an abundance of material to write about. Amen is at his most focused and is as sharp as he’s been on his previous releases, sounding his most comfortable.

A’ also recruited some of the most sought after producers like Keelay & Zaire and local talent Midi Marc for backdrops as well.

“Head On” wets the appetite for the rest of the ‘Entourage’ related releases and hopefully it won’t take so long for him to return. We missed ya.
