Tonight the Million Dollar Dreams Team released the highly anticipated project from Warren Jae on www.writersblockmedia.net. I was soooo ready for this project to drop, I was on the site downloading at 9:01 pm!! All I can say is, this album is already on the iphone (AWL-READY)! I’m all about feel good music, that’s exactly what Warren Jae and Banks! Beats gives you with “What Dreams May Come.” The album flows in the form of a soundtrack, with each track keeping you tuned in to the next. It’s so good to know that real hiphop still exists! Shout out to:

2009 National Radio Hall of Famer: Wendy Williams

The 2009 National Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held this past Saturday night (November 7th) at Chicago’s Renaissance Hotel. Rush Limbaugh-The Rush Limbaugh Show, and Baseball Hall of Famer-George Brett, were a few of the attendees. Wendy Williams (How you doin?!) was one of the honorable inductees for 2009. South Carolina’s own Charlamagne the God had the honor of inducting Mrs. Williams. Charlamagne is the former co-host and a close friend of Wendy, who is currently in Philadelphia working on several business ventures. Congratulations to both Wendy and Charlamagne. Much love and respect to you!

Mixtape Review: MaryLiz “The Princess is Here”

I’ve been hearing about Ms. MaryLiz for quite some time now and was anticipating her mixtape, (especially since DJ Frosty was hosting it). I was finally able to listen to her mixtape on Wednesday (Nov.4). From the start, I was really happy for her b/c I can only imagine she was excited to record, and finally release this project. Throughout listening, my opinion is, it was an average mixtape. I think she needs some more work with her pitch and rhythm. There were times (more than so than not) where she wasn’t on beat so-to-speak. I wouldn’t have adviced her to do “Run this Town” as a remix. It’s very hard for new artist to sing “familiar” tracks b/c you’ll always be compared to the original artist. Rihanna is an amazingly talented artist, and to remake one of her songs would be quite difficult. I don’t think Mary Liz is awful, however I do believe she needs to continue at her craft and perfect her imperfections. I do not rap nor do I sing, however as a consumer of Rap and R&B music this is just my opinion of what I heard. I wish her much luck, success, and fortune. I hope this isn’t taken as a “diss” because it is not. We all are up under the microscope at different times in our lives. In order to help one another, we must be honest with one another. Again Mary Liz I congratulate you and I wish you the best.

Fat Rat Da Czar And Shekeese Tha Beast “Music On Da Radio”

Many people know Fat Rat Da Czar and Shekeese Tha Beast from being on the South Carolina scene for a minute. I met Shekeese over 10 years ago and probably longer than that through people I knew. Last May they dropped a mixtape title “Da Cold War 2: Da Day Afta”. Whether it’s “Da” or “Tha” their track “Music On Da Radio” is one of the better cuts on the album.

Charlamagne Fired From 100.3 The Beat, Philadelphia

UPDATE: So Charlamagne spoke out to XXL Magazine and gave the true story of what happened today…..why he was FIRED and his views on the Beanie Sigel, Jay-Z situation….

Still not sure what happened today other than Charlamagne got FIRED from 100.3 The Beat Philly. Speculations are saying that it was due to the interview with Beanie Sigel on last week….But who really knows…I’ve reached out to Charlamagne to get the full story…still waiting on his response…we’ll see what happens. Stay tuned. Until then..I wish Charlamagne the best. I know he will be missed in Philly.

SIDENOTE: To all my Twitter heads…that trending topic for Charlamagne is hilarious! My favorite one is “#cthagodgotfired now he’s doing a dis track with Lil Ru to talk about it” HEE-LARRY-US!

Trey Songz and DJ Drama at Club Rain, Florence, SC

Trey Songz and DJ made an appearance in Florence, SC’s Club Rain. I know once you reach a certain level or status, things tend to change. When you were broke “so-to-speak” little things like “being on time” and “actually performing” were important. Just by judging the more fortunate, it appears those things seem to go out the door. I arrived at 12 am (as I was to for my interviews with Drama and Trey)……tick, tock, tick, tock….Ok so now it’s 2 am…NO TREY, NO DRAMA!!! 2:30AM they arrive and of course had to immediately the stage (hence, no interviews).However, I was priviledged to be allowed on stage with them both, and have occasional 1:1 conversation. Here is a snippet of the performance from Trey Songz….

Now…..again….when you reach a certain level, I guess you don’t have to actually b/c as you saw…the CROWD sang more than he did…then he even said “SING LOUDER!” Are u kidding me? LOL. Don’t get me wrong, Trey Songz has a beautiful naturally beautiful voice. He sang acapella on numerous occasions and I was blown away by his voice. I just wish they had used instrumentals or maybe a show mix, so we could hear more of his voice and not the track…….

DJ Drama- One thing I can definitely say is…there was a HUGE difference when he came aboard. The crowd rushed to the stage (granted it could have had nothing to do with his DJing ability, but EVERYTHING with his celeb status) and got HYPED. He only had about a 15-20 min set, then he was DJing for Trey Songz…

I was disappointed to not have gotten my interviews but…that’s apart of the hustle. Get in where you fit in….I got in on stage……
